National Volunteer Manager
Gearoid is responsible for the strategic planning of our volunteer programme and the recruitment and retention of volunteers.
Gearoid first joined the organisation as Fundraising Executive with Special Olympics Ireland in June 2008, after completing his Post Graduate Diploma in Event Management and Public Relations. He worked for Special Olympics Ireland for over two years and in that time was also the Information Services Manager for the 2010 Special Olympics Ireland Games in Limerick.
He was then hired by Special Olympics Europe Eurasia to run the 'Wear the Laces' Fundraising campaign for Special Olympics Great Britain, as well as assist in the running of the Great Britain leg of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for the 2010 European Summer Games.
Gearoid then spent some time in Australia and was hired as the Sports Competition Manager and Delegation Services Manager for the 2013 Special Olympics Asia Pacific Games in Newcastle where he was responsible for producing the competition programme for the Games with the help of over 400 volunteers between his two teams.
Gearoid was born in Galway in Ireland and has an Honours Degree in Business Studies in Sport and Tourism Management and a Post Graduate Diploma in Events Management and Public Relations.
