Four time Guinness World Record holder Shaun Baker is best known for kayaking over massive waterfalls and down the world's steepest whitewater rivers. He has even set the "Land Speed Record” for a kayak (set on snow in the Canadian Rockies) and has kayaked down the huge red sand dunes of the Sahara desert. He is widely credited as a true pioneer of the extreme.
Shaun’s credits include: 9 times UK National Whitewater Freestyle/Rodeo Champion; 6 times UK Team ranked No.1; 20+ further individual major national competition wins, UK and worldwide. He is considered one of the top sportsmen in the world with featured documentaries in over 84 countries.
Shaun is an advanced level British Canoe Union Instructor and Examiner in all disciplines of the sport, including life saving. He also has a keen interest in the safety aspect of kayaking and is a leading designer of kayaks and whitewater safety equipment. Shaun has designed or modified most of the specialist clothing he wears, as well as the kayak he uses.
A Duke of Edinburgh Awards Presenter as well as a Special Olympics GB Ambassador, Shaun spends an increasing amount of time gaining publicity for his sport and is regularly featured in films and magazines around the world.
Shaun became a Special Olympics GB Ambassador in 2004.
