There are 1.2 million people across Great Britain with an intellectual (learning) disability and a further 200 babies with intellectual (learning) disabilities born each week.

Involvement with Special Olympics gives children and adults with an intellectual (learning) disability the opportunity to achieve their personal best in an inclusive, supportive environment.
Special Olympics GB is committed to increasing the availability of our programme, with the ultimate aim of ensuring anyone in Great Britain with an intellectual (learning) disability has an opportunity to take part in sport.
Special Olympics GB currently relies solely on individual and corporate sponsorships and donations. Your support is crucial to our successful growth and development over the next several years.

Special Olympics is often the only place where people with intellectual (learning) disabilities have an opportunity to participate in their communities and develop belief in themselves. Special Olympics sports provide a gateway to empowerment, competence, acceptance and joy. But for every Special Olympics athlete, there are many more that we haven’t reached yet.
