Special Olympics Great Britain in partnership with London Marathon Events Ltd. introduces the first ever Special Olympics Unified Mile on Sunday, May 26.
The organisers of the Vitality Westminster Mile have offered Special Olympics a dedicated wave in the Mile, free of charge, as part of its commitment to highlight social inclusion as a key message of the event.
This exciting event will be a part of the Vitality Westminster Mile, the world’s largest timed mile, and will be held on Sunday, 26 May 2019 in central London.
Taking place on a spectacular course that starts on The Mall and finishes in front of Buckingham Palace, The Special Olympics Unified Mile is sure to be an unforgettable experience.
The Special Olympics Unified Mile is set to start at 11:40am and every finisher will get a medal and a goody bag at the finish line.
With a sprinkling of celebrity faces taking part to spur us along the way, The Special Olympics Unified Mile is open to runners and non-runners alike. Walking, skipping or hoping are all acceptable ways to complete the mile and be a part of this truly inclusive experience for all.

Vitality Wellness Festival
The all-day Vitality Wellness Festival takes place in Green Park and is packed with free family-friendly activities including coaching sessions in a range of sports and the giant Tumbleator with spot prizes on offer. There will also be plenty of places to picnic with a range of food on sale.
Special Olympics will have an activation area in the Vitality Festival with a variety of fun and interactive activities and demonstrations. Get top coaching tips and perfect your penalty taking with our Gold Medal winning Football coaches and players in the football zone, master your chipping and putting with our great golf activity and learn more about some of Special Olympics GB’s special initiatives including MATP, Young Athletes and Fit 5 led by our fantastic Special Olympics athlete leaders.
The excitement doesn’t stop there, test your brain with our Special Olympics trivia based Wheel of Fortune game for the chance to win a range of exciting gifts from Special Olympics goodies to London Eye tickets, signed sports jerseys and flags and meal vouchers.
