Pat qualified as Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 1955 and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons. Pat’s long standing career as an orthopaedic surgeon encompasses a number of important appointments in various hospitals around the country, including his post as orthopaedic surgeon of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club from 1970 to 1985 and as a member of the Rugby Football Club’s Injuries Working Party from 1984 to 1992.
Pat was the first president of the British Association of Trauma in Sport and founder member of the British Orthopaedic Sports Trauma Association (BOSTA). In the early 70s Pat set up his private practice in London, which he still leads today.
Pat joined Special Olympics GB in 1997 as Medical Advisor and became a board member in 2008. He is currently helping to establish a Health and Wellbeing group which will support and oversee projects related not only to overall health of the athletes such as the development of the Healthy Athletes Programme, but also medical and psychological research.
Pat lives in Rutland with his wife Monica.
