Paul is an Olympic athlete and Bronze Medallist, Sailing (1968). Retired from the corporate world after more than 35 years in the oil industry, Paul joined the Special Olympics Movement in 1990 as Special Olympics Director General of Europe with the remit to develop and grow the Movement across Europe. Under Paul’s leadership (1990-1994) the number of countries running Special Olympics programmes in Europe doubled.

From 1994 Paul was at the helm of Special Olympics in Great Britain until his retirement in 2000. In 2002, Paul joined the Board of Directors as Vice Chairman.

Paul is past Chairman and current committee member of the British Olympians Association, and current Chairman of the Harlequins Old Players Association.

In 2011, Paul was awarded an OBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours for his services to Special Olympics GB.

Paul lives in East Sussex with wife Maureen.
