Robert Powell is Head of Pro Bono & Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) at international law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP.
Robert has more than ten years experience in the legal sector and has supported Special Olympics GB (SOGB) since 2011, when his previous law firm CMS, launched a two-year partnership with our charity. The relationship raised more than £160,000 and since then Robert has continued supporting SOGB through being a member of the organisation's Development Committee for three years.
In addition to volunteering at many SOGB regional events, Robert has volunteered at the 2013 National Summer Games in Bath and at the 2013 World Winter Games in South Korea, as well as travelled to the 2011 World Summer Games in Athens. He was also a volunteer at the London 2012 Olympic Games and a Paralympic Torchbearer.
Robert lives in Hertfordshire with his wife and two children. In his spare time, Robert likes to take part in marathons and triathlons. He also writes and performs music – he wrote a song called ‘Trip of a Lifetime’ which he recorded with the SOGB Team who competed at the 2013 World Winter Games. Robert is also an author and recently published his first children’s book entitled ‘Odd Socks.’
Robert is also a trustee of Heart of the City and a member of several charity advisory boards - he joined the Board of Special Olympics GB in 2016.
