Kerry Group supports Special Olympics World Games 2019

16th March 2019

As the world's largest taste and nutrition company and a major consumer foods organisation, Kerry Group is committed to supporting the local communities in which they operate. As a corporate partner, their vision with Special Olympics is to work better together to create more inclusive communities. Since launching our partnership in March 2018, it’s been fantastic to see how the magic of Special Olympics really has captured the hearts of their people.

Kerry Group is partnering with Special Olympics in four countries: GB, Ireland, Poland and the Netherlands. As an Official Sponsor of Special Olympics their partnership in these markets includes employee volunteering, employee fundraising and athlete leadership and wellbeing.

Colleagues have truly embraced the partnership and have been busy fundraising and building relationships with Special Olympics clubs and giving their time to volunteer at many games, local clubs and competitions including the Special Olympics GB 40th Anniversary Games, Ireland Games and the Poland Games.

2019 sees us continue to work better together with a key highlight being the World Games happening this week! Almost one year since launching our partnership with Kerry Group we’re delighted to have nine colleagues from across Kerry in GB and Ireland volunteer at the World Games and experience the joy and magic of Special Olympics on an international level. Four of these Kerry volunteers are supporting #TeamSOGB in media roles helping to raise awareness of Special Olympics GB and share our experiences at the World Games across social media, our website and our daily newsletters.

One of our Kerry volunteers, Charlotte Bourne, says “After volunteering at the SOGB 40th Anniversary Games in Stirling last year, Special Olympics became something I hold with pride and joy; to now get the chance to volunteer at the World Games with 7,500 athletes is the most magical and special week of my life! Nothing compares to the joy of the athletes; their spirit, tenacity and determination is inspirational!”

Michelle Carney, CEO of Special Olympics GB, adds “We couldn’t do it without the support from Kerry Group. We’re so grateful to have them here with us in Abu Dhabi. They’re really adding lots of value, fun and energy and it’s great to see the friendships they’ve already build with our athletes and coaches.”
