16th July 2018
At Kerry Foods, their annual We Are Kerry Foods celebrations bring the fun of the Summer into the workplace! These days are celebrations of the company, its products, its values and, importantly, its people. Employees at sites and offices across the UK and Ireland are given the time to take part in activities, sample the food they produce, share meals and generally have a good time!
This year they are delighted to have their friends from Special Olympics join them at many of their celebrations in recognition of our two year partnership. Today, colleagues at the Kerry Foods Head Office in Egham came together with athletes from Special Olympics Surrey and Special Olympics St Albans for a day of food, fundraising and inclusive sports!
During the morning colleagues took part in a four mile sponsored walk, jog or run at Virginia Water to raise funds for Special Olympics GB and support their Kerry Foods colleagues who are fundraising as part of their volunteering at the Special Olympics GB 40th Anniversary Games.
The afternoon saw colleagues and athletes enjoy the sun in the park with lots of fun activities from 5 a side football matches, table tennis tournaments and even some yoga! And in true Kerry Foods style there was lots of food from Richmond, Fridge Raiders and Rollover to all of the delicious Curries from Noon. And colleagues from Gainsborough, the home of Homepride asked colleagues to bake cakes with all money raised going to support their local Special Olympics Athletes Lauren Douce and Ryan Caven who will be competing in the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Abu Dhabi in 2019.
Sam Wothers, Head of Employee Engagement at Kerry Foods says “Our Kerry Foods Celebrations are very much enjoyed across the organisation and a great way to bring colleagues together. We celebrate the fantastic food we make, thank our people for their great work and recognise all that we have achieved together over the year.
“As part of this year’s Kerry Foods Celebrations I’m delighted that we are welcoming Special Olympics athletes to our sites to join in the fun. I’m so proud of our partnership with Special Olympics and the opportunities of our two organisations working together. I’m really excited to see many of our colleagues volunteering at the Special Olympics GB 40th Anniversary games in Stirling next month and I can’t wait to volunteer myself.”
