Special Olympics GB athletes attend Jr.NBA training clinic

12th January 2017

Six of our Special Olympics GB athletes had an amazing opportunity to attend the Jr.NBA training clinic today at the 02 Arena thanks to our global partnership with NBA and their NBA Cares Programme.

Our SOGB athletes took part in an hour’s training session hosted by a number of the Indiana Pacers players and coaching staff ahead of their NBA Global Games fixture tomorrow against the Denver Nuggets. The Jr. NBA Basketball Clinic, led by NBA Basketball Operations, focused on the fundamentals of the game including dribbling, passing and shooting while stressing the values of the game.

Our athletes were filmed and interviewed by 'Sky Sports Games Changers', the TV show which focuses on inspiring kids to participate in sport and getting active. This will be aired in March on Sky.

A few of our athletes have been provided tickets from the NBA for tomorrow’s game and after the 3rd period will have the opportunity to go on court to showcase the partnership in front of the crowd.

A big thanks to our athletes, their coaches and parents for attending and another thank you to everyone at NBA & Indiana Pacers for a wonderful day, we know our athletes cannot wait for tomorrow!
