
Six Special Olympics GB athletes and four volunteers were VIP guests at the Senedd Cymru for a reception to celebrate their upcoming participation in the Berlin 2023 Special Olympics World Games.
Athletes Michael Beynon (bocce), Bleddyn Gibbs (powerlifting), Llinos Gilmour-Jones (bocce), John Hayes (athletics), Joshua Longbottom (athletics), Ethan Orton (badminton) were wished the very best of luck by First Minister of Wales Mark Drakeford alongside Deputy Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism Dawn Bowden and Sioned Williams MS.
They were joined at the Senedd by Team Special Olympics GB Head of Delegation Stephen Walker, badminton coach Ben Tucker, bocce coach Erika Walker and powerlifting coach Simon Roach who are all supporting the athletes on their journey to the world’s biggest inclusive sporting event of 2023.
