Kiera Byland BEM

Kiera is a member of the Board of Directors in Great Britain and also a member of the Athlete Leadership Team. We, Special Olympics GB are incredibly proud that Kiera is also the Chair of the Global Athlete Congress and is a board member of Special Olympics International. Kiera also holds many other roles across the Special Olympics movement including being a Global Health messenger.

Kiera was recently awarded a British Empire Medal for inspiring children in schools and for her services to sport. Kiera enjoys being a role model to others and is passionate about the voices of athletes being heard and acted upon.

She believes that Athlete Leadership can help you build a person's confidence, their skillset and help someone become more professional. Her fellow Athlete Leadership team members are Kiera's role models as they manage to inspire each other every day.

As well as being a prominent leadership figure, Kiera is also an incredibly successful athlete. She regards her six gold medals in cycling at the World Games in 2015 and 2019 as her greatest achievement.

In her downtime, Kiera enjoys word searches, doing diamond art and loves pizza.

Kiera hopes to continue to compete in swimming and equestrian and is also looking to become a cycling coach at her local club.
