We are delighted to welcome Rachael Crack to Special Olympics GB who has joined the team as our new Competition Development Manager.

Rachael’s main focus will be to understand and review our current competition pathway with a focus on working with partners to provide more meaningful competitive opportunities for our athletes.

Rachael has worked in sport since achieving a degree in Sports Development with Coaching at Sheffield Hallam university. After spending some time working in a local sports development unit, coaching in schools and supporting people with disabilities in the community she joined Boccia England where she progressed to the role of Competition Manager. The 10 years spent at Boccia England allowed Rachael to experience all aspects of disability sport in key areas of volunteer management, competition development and event management. Rachael also volunteers as a Technical Delegate for World Boccia and has been appointed as TD for the World Championships in Rio de Janeiro this year.

Commenting on her appointment Rachael says: ‘’I am very excited to get stuck into the role of Competition Development Manager. I have had a very warm welcome from the team at Special Olympics GB and it’s very clear that there is a huge passion to grow participation and raise awareness of opportunities through sport. I am looking forward to meeting athletes and the workforce behind some fantastic events that are already happening. I am keen to find out what athletes want from competition and work with volunteers and partners to facilitate more meaningful opportunities.”

Rachael lives in Sheffield with her partner, their little boy and two furballs. She enjoys live music, dabbles in a bit of yoga, enjoys trying her hand at different sports and likes to spend time at her allotment.
