Athletes from Special Olympics Lincolnshire recently got the opportunity to play on the hallowed turf of Chelsea Football Club’s Stamford Bridge Stadium, thanks to the Breaking Limits Programme supported by Sure.
Nine footballing athletes from Special Olympics Lincolnshire made the journey to West London, where they joined three other charities to take part in the Breaking Limits day at the home of the former English and European champions.
Alongside Special Olympics Great Britain’s Coach Development Officer Connor Fellows, the athletes experienced a tour behind the scenes at Stamford Bridge before heading out onto the field to join Chelsea FC Foundation coaches.
Here they rotated around four different footballing activity stations, including goal scoring, passing relays, keep ball and match scenarios.
“Playing at the home of a former Premier League and Champions League-winning team is an experience that any footballer would remember,” said Connor Fellows. “As well as the memories made from playing, the coaches put together a fantastic session for all athletes in attendance, which was designed to help develop their skills in the game.
“We’re very grateful to Sure and Breaking Limits for this brilliant experience.”
