Special Olympics Great Britain, the UK’s largest provider of sports competition and training for children and adults with an intellectual disability, has partnered with CTM Sport to support its travel management.
Through a two-year partnership, CTM Sport aims to streamline travel arrangements for Special Olympics GB and support the delivery of travel plans for Special Olympics events based overseas, whilst supporting domestic travel arrangements for staff.
By leveraging CTM Sport’s expertise in travel management, Special Olympics GB seeks to provide a seamless and efficient travel experience, reinforcing its commitment to inclusion and excellence in sports.
Debbie Carling, CEO Europe at CTM, said, ‘We’re delighted to partner with Special Olympics GB. We have the size and scale to deliver cost effective and reliable travel programmes to sports organisations and their athletes. Most importantly, we understand the impact that an expertly managed travel programme can have on an athlete’s ability to perform, as a team or as an individual.
“We’re already supporting the cycling team travelling to Belgium to compete at the Special Olympics Competition at UEC Road European Championship 2024. We’ll also be supporting Special Olympics GB with arrangements for athletes, volunteers and staff who are travelling to the Special Olympics World Winter Games Turin 2025”.
Laura Baxter MBE, Chief Executive of Special Olympics GB, said: “CTM Sport is one of the most respected travel management consultants within the sports industry and we’re thrilled to partner with them, initially over this two-year term.
There is a huge amount of time invested in travel arrangements throughout the Special Olympics GB family, so being able to work with such a recognised partner will ensure greater efficiencies in time and hopefully cost savings in this area through its preferential travel industry rates.
CTM Sport is the specialist sports travel division of CTM, which is a global provider of innovative and cost-effective travel solutions. By partnering with Special Olympics GB it will support the charity’s transformational work for people with intellectual disabilities and have the ability to stage staff engagement events, including unified sports sessions that bring together people with and without intellectual disabilities in the same sporting teams.
Special Olympics GB uses the power of sport to transform the lives of people with intellectual disabilities, providing regular training and competitions. Operating in England, Scotland and Wales, the charity has more than 6,600 athletes benefitting from opportunities in 27 different sports, which are delivered by a devoted team of 3,800 volunteers.
