Double Olympic gold medallist and Special Olympics GB Swimming Ambassador, Matt Richards MBE, joined athletes, families, and volunteers at the recent Special Olympics Great Britain (GB) Swimming Gala, hosted by Cheshire Penguins at Liverpool Aquatics Centre.

Matt who became Special Olympics GB Swimming Ambassador for the charity last year, spent the afternoon meeting and cheering on athletes in the gala’s races, in addition posing for photos, presenting medals, and bringing his signature energy and enthusiasm to poolside.

“It’s been such a privilege to be part of today’s gala,” said Matt.

The athletes are incredible. Their commitment, sportsmanship, and love for the sport is everything I admire about swimming. It’s what makes my role as an ambassador so meaningful.
