Special Olympics Great Britain (GB) is thrilled to launch its 2026 Competition Support Grant, which offers even more support for accredited clubs delivering competitive sporting opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities.

The Competition Support Grant helps accredited Special Olympics GB clubs cover costs associated with staging competitions for athletes with an intellectual disability. As part of our ongoing commitment to increasing the level of competitions in 2026, the value of individual event grants has increased by 50 per cent.

Grants of up to £750 are now available to support event delivery costs, from venue hire to equipment, awards, competitor refreshments and other items directly linked to running a sanctioned Special Olympics GB competition.

Applications for the 2026 Competition Support Grant are now open for accredited Special Olympics GB clubs via the onlineapplication form.

This form gathers key event details, funding needs and evidence of planned competition delivery, so please read each section carefully to ensure your submission reflects the aims and outcomes of your event.

“We know how vital competition is to our athletes’ sporting journeys,” said Rachael Crack, Competition Development Manager at Special Olympics GB.

“By increasing the support available through this grant, we’re enabling even more opportunities for clubs to host events that offer competitive challenge, build confidence and bring people together in celebration of inclusive sport.”

Whether it’s a regional multi-sport event or a single-sport competition, this grant aims to help clubs strengthen their competition calendars and develop more pathways for athletes to shine.
