Special Olympics GB Athlete Leadership Team Chair Mitch Camp recently represented the movement at Toyota's summer sports day, held at the company's Burgh Heath headquarters to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its national headquarters.

The event brought Toyota's sporting partnerships to life for employees through a day of fun, inclusive and interactive activities, highlighting the company's support of Special Olympics GB, Paralympics GB, England Cricket and tennis.

As part of the celebrations, Mitch joined a multi-sport athlete panel alongside England cricketers Jacob Bethell and Tammy Beaumont, and Winter Paralympian Nina Sparks. The discussion gave Toyota colleagues the opportunity to hear directly from athletes about their sporting journeys, memorable experiences and the realities of life in sport.

Representing Special Olympics GB, Mitch shared his experiences as both an athlete and leader, speaking about the opportunities sport has provided and the importance of creating environments where people with intellectual disabilities can thrive, develop confidence and reach their potential.

The conversation also explored the role partnerships can play in making sport more accessible and inclusive, helping more people enjoy the benefits of participation and belonging.

Events like this provide an important platform for athlete leaders to share their stories and perspectives, helping to increase understanding of intellectual disability and showcasing the positive impact that sport can have on individuals and communities.

Special Olympics GB would like to thank Toyota for its continued support and for creating opportunities for athletes to share their experiences with new audiences.
